Food Intolerances and Allergies
Yesterday I saw a young girl with her mother in clinic. The moment they walked through the door, mum was crying out for help. Her daughter was diagnosed with wheat, rye, oat, barley, egg and cow's milk protein allergies.
For the first 15 minutes, I simply let mum talk. She was venting our her frustrations - like how she has spent so much money on fancy 'Freefrom' foods, what she has tried and what she hasn't worked. Her daughter was eating plain foods repetitively. She was so worried about her teenage daughter's weight loss and hair loss. Their whole family was, understandably, stressed.
Allergies can be tricky.
Don't be overwhelmed by what you cannot eat. Focus on what you can eat.
I'll help you identify ingredients that you can eat and like, seasonings and cooking styles that you can eat and like. Together, we can come up with meal options that you can tolerate and enjoy. It does not have to be expensive and I will work around your lifestyle.
